Karena's Journey- How It All Started!

 

It all began while I was serving on active duty in the U.S. Army. I’ll never forget the day I failed my first audit.

I was embarrassed. Humiliated. And worst of all, I had no idea what to do next.

There was no guidance, no one to advocate for me. I had to swallow the consequences and, as we say in the military, “suck it up and drive on.”

Fast forward a few years, after I cleared up my mess, I found myself working in the finance department, where small business owners and entrepreneurs started seeking me out for help. They needed their books cleaned up to win government contracts, and I knew exactly how to help them.

But it didn’t stop there.

In 2014, I opened my own bookkeeping practice. And to my surprise, many of my clients were in the same ugly boat I had been in just a few years earlier, struggling with IRS issues, unfiled taxes, and fear of audits.

That’s when the light bulbs came on.

I realized this wasn’t just about numbers. It was about giving people the support I never had. So I went all in and became an Enrolled Agent, federally licensed to represent taxpayers before the IRS.

Today, I use that hard-earned experience to help others find relief, restore order, and reclaim peace of mind.

Thus far, I have represented clients in tax controversy matters for over $5 million and counting, providing trusted guidance and relief to individuals and businesses alike.

In 2024, she earned the designation of Certified Tax Resolution Specialist, reinforcing my role as a fierce advocate for those facing IRS challenges.

I’m a contributing writer for both the Rockwall Times and NAEA. I am also an active member of the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers (ASTPS), Texas Society of Enrolled Agents (TxSEA), and the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA).

When I’m not untangling IRS issues or decoding tax laws, you’ll find me lost in the garden, exploring new destinations, or enjoying downtime with my family.
